There is an exciting anticipation for the IPL 2023 tournament. The IPL is returning to home & away venues after the last three editions were affected by the Covid-19 Pandemic. Former RCB skipper Virat Kohli will be eager to win their maiden IPL title. In the IPL 2022, Kohli scored 341 runs in 16 matches, but had a scratchy campaign.
On their home ground Chinnaswamy Stadium, RCB doesn’t have a good record, as scoring is easy. Skipper Faf du Plessis will be tested this time because this time there will be competitive wickets. In the 2022 edition, RCB reached the playoffs, but failed to finish.
Virat Kohli on AB de Villiers & Chris Gayle
At the RCB Unbox event on 26th March, Virat Kohli was asked about reuniting with AB de Villiers and Chris Gayle.
“It’s gonna be historic, it’s one of the things we discussed as an idea first. When the IPL goes back to Bangalore why not honor two of our Legends (AB de Villiers & Chris Gayle), do something with them, and then have a practice session where all people can come & watch. Do something that was actually close to my heart. It’s coming together nicely now,” said Virat Kohli.
“I can’t wait to be back with them, the trio back after a quite some years. It will be a nostalgic moment for the fans which they will cherish & enjoy. I think they deserve to see all 3 of us on the stage. We played some very strong special innings for RCB. We played together for so long & I can’t wait for it,” he added.
RCB has a great chance
Incorporating Michael Bracewell into RCB can make a huge difference as he has a sheer hitting ability. Michael Bracewell can also be used as a pinch hitter since he can play a breezy cameo. Wanindu Hasaranga should be used wisely by RCB, as his four overs are quite decisive where he can fox batters with his variations.
Finn Allen has a wide range of shots, so it will be interesting to see if he opens the batting together with Faf du Plessis. In the IPL 2022, Glenn Maxwell scored 301 runs and was not upto his mark. He needs to perform according to his credentials.
